On Saturday 24 February 2018, at the Greta Hansonville Hall, publisher Brad Webb and editor Chester Eagle along with fifty guests celebrated the 70th anniversary of Max Brown‘s definitive story on the legend of Ned Kelly Australian Son: the story of Ned Kelly.
Starting at 10.30am the event included discussions on Max and his writing, the evolution of Australian Son, the development of Max’s final revised edition, and select readings from his work. After the talk there was a BBQ lunch (at Bunnings prices) and a chance to buy an Australian Son hardcover signed by the publisher and editor for only $25. Entry to the event was $15 per person and included morning tea. Each member of the audience also received a limited-edition free mini-mag of Chester Eagle’s The Armour which he happily signed when asked. All proceeds went to the Greta Hansonville Hall for its continued improvement and upkeep.
